![]() | Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Pros: Quality compared to the price - heavy, but not too much - versatile - good technical features (AF, stab., General construction) Cons: overall performance in less than ideal conditions - focus ring position - stabilized very noisy - there is no focus limiter (but typically Sigma) - delicate paint (hood) Opinion: I purchased it by replacing the legendary canon 100-400 ... I am convinced of not having lost anything. It 'a versatile lens, usable freehand, is fairly well balanced (with some exceptions) and easy to carry carefully by the "handle" of the attack tripod. The stabilizer does its job effectively and the autofocus is fast enough. The 500mm are really comfortable and close at f8.0 you get good levels of detail (with a minimum of PP) I use it with a Canon 50D, on which offers more than satisfactory performance, I also tried to multiply it with a Kenko 1.4x (... calculating the 50D 1.6x us to 1120mm!) and I have not noticed a drop in quality as to make it completely unusable, the autofocus works if you keep all the hot spots, while there is single point. Still on the subject of AF: if you bet the sky 500mmm (eg try to frame a distant bird tends to focus first at the minimum distance, not indefinitely support which penalizes a lot (I do not know if it's just my face .) I find it uncomfortable then the position of the focus ring, back off the zoom: freehand penalizes very balance. Ultimately it is a lens that has great satisfaction as long as you do not ask crop (if not the minimum wage to dial) and use it in good light, this requires a careful planning of the shots (stalking appropriate choices of preventive shots) and is an excellent gym. costs a fraction of professional and has great potential, I'm fully soddsfatto. sent on January 09, 2012 |
