Pros: beautiful, not too bulky, of excellent workmanship

Cons: the electronic part not exactly simple

Opinion: I purchased this machine after looking at it with deep desire for more than a year. I already have the Df, but it is starting to be a bit dated, with an image quality that is not exactly impeccable. I've been using it for a few months and I find it beautiful. The images are very sharp and it holds up well even at very high ISOs. Fast and precise focusing. Robust and lightweight. With 24/70, it allows you to do almost anything. Obviously I am not a professional and I use it mainly for portraits and reportage of events with my son or holidays. Too bad it's not a pure manual like the Df. They removed many manual adjustments present in the previous one that were very useful and easy to use. The electronics are very accurate, but not as intuitive. The focus from the screen, however, is really precise and excellent. I agree with most of the comments that say the front button is uncomfortable, we tend to operate it often involuntarily. I set it up with the various choices of normal and auto fast shooting, but it's not as functional. In the Df there is a small ring that is much more practical. In the end, being able to choose between taking 4 -7 or more consecutive shots is not so useful compared to the inconvenience of activating the function. I also had the old Nikon F and the FM2 so I didn't put the smallrig grip. I find that it weighs it down and reduces its retro charm, as well as not finding a particular improvement in the handle. Despite the price, I am very glad I bought it. Maybe the best would be to put its sensor on the Df, but these are just fantasies.

nikon_dfNikon Df

Pros: Beautiful, excellent performance at high ISO, compatibility with now otherwise unusable lenses.

Cons: materials a bit 'poor, the battery compartment cap occasionally comes off, one SD slot.

Opinion: I started taking pictures with the Nikon F of my mother and the first car that I bought was a FM2, so as soon as you exit the Df was love at first sight. After an assiduous court, I decided to buy it to find it used in excellent condition. I must say I am extremely pleased with the way it works. Before I had a Pentax K5IIs that in many ways is much higher, but the Nikon Df brought me back to a more authentic dimension (for me) to take pictures. I find the rings and knobs perfect: use well and is configurable (one in front and one behind) as one wants. In fact it goes back to a real manual operation, without frills and with a perfect image quality. Maybe the quality of materials and construction details, for the price at which you buy are not quite up. The Pentax is decidedly superior from this point of view. It is still a beautiful machine that buy back right now, but not at full price.
