White Bald-headed Uakari, Middle Solimoes - Amazonia. Il uakari bianco, considerato vulnerabile all'estinzione, è una delle scimmie del nuovo mondo meno fotografate. Studiata solo a partire dal 1986, il uakari bianco vive solo nella remota riserva di Mamirauà, nel cuore dell'Amazzonia. Agile e attiva, vive in gruppi di 25-50 individui. Il uakari bianco è considerato strettamente arboreo, a causa dell'allagamento stagionale delle foreste, ma durante la stagione secca ho visto alcuni individui sul terreno alla ricerca di semi. In una settimana nella riserva ho avuto la fortuna di vedere questa scimmia due volte, per fotografarla ho dovuto abbandonare la canoa ed addentrarmi nella foresta (probabilmente il posto con + specie diverse di zanzare al mondo) dove il uakari era sempre in alto negli alberi: una tra le esperienze di scatto in natura più impegnative che abbia mai vissuto.
