Le "pagine" hanno in generale una giacitura orizzontale e sono costituite di calcare nodulare rosato. Il nome di Libri de San Daniel deriva da una leggenda che narra come il protettore dei viandanti, appunto Daniele, avesse accumulato queste lastre per costruire il pavimento di una chiesa. Il dislivello (oltre 1300 m da Casso, di più ancora da Erto), la lunghezza e l'asprezza del percorso rende il posto poco accessibile e quindi mèta agognata. #Geomorfologia
