Here's the first of a series of photographs taken at dawn on January 7, 2012 in a dry oxbow of our great river. The air was clear and the light was just amazing. I went with my friend Simone (Simozar77) and my friend John (who for now has not yet joined the forum). I hope that these shots are to your liking!
Hello,

Hello Diego, I really dislike most beautiful colors, compo and atmosphere, I understand that you used the filters is not it?
Compliments

Hello Luca! I'm glad you like it! This is the first picture taken this morning! As I wrote to you via SMS the light was amazing! I was sorry that did not come. Yes, I used the graduated filter to balance the dynamic range of the scene and the polarizer to reduce reflections on the ice!
Thanks for the ride and for the compliments.

I like the composition and colors, very beautiful the other, especially the second one with the crack of ice that leads the eye into the frame.
Only just maybe, you pulled a little too much with filters, especially in these 2 where the dark area is almost completely unreadable. In the other, with the sun front, there may also be.
I take away a curiosity, why did you use the second filter upside-down? You may only hard alcohol like?
Usually to compensate for the foreground using a soft combined with the hard but not overthrown.

Hello Volpy. The second filter I used it upside down to simulate a reverse filter (which I did). In practice superimposing the two transition zones is obtained by a central band darker. To be precise, in this case I had a 2 stop difference between foreground and sky (first floor had 0.3 hard and 0.9 hard on the sky) which increased to 4 stops in the central belt. I did not burn the band just above the horizon and the sky maintain legible. To tell you the truth it's not a bad thing that the central part of the frame is not very readable ... there are only weeds and dirt ... the flood plain of the Po is far from certain that paradise can be found at high altitude! :-D Thanks for the ride, for the compliments and tips.

hehe, you're right ... :-D
perhaps leaning slightly to the right filters'd recovered a little light in the dark and avoided the dark spot in the sky on the top right ... or did you do it? :)

I did it! The dark area in the upper right is the farthest from where the sun rises. For what is coming so dark. I decided to leave this gradient light because it seemed natural ;-)

@ Volpy: I saw the post this photo following your advice and trying to regain some 'the blacks of darker area in the center of the frame. I would say that the result is good. Maybe post the photos the next day. Thanks again for the advice.

I prefer the second version with the details that are visible even in the darker areas.
Very nice reflection of the sky in the cold pool.

So it seems to go well, the two embankments are against the dry, further lightening in danger of becoming unnatural ;-)

azz ... there is a big difference between your interpretation and that of your friend (a few posts below) ...
I really like though: it is a meeting of sensations ... The first floor cold and the sky warmer!

Contedalo81 Hello, hello Ocram, thanks to both for the passage and the compliments!
Hello Max (Lafrusta), now the phone we already talked about this shot, but also as promised answer on the blog! Unfortunately, the artifacts are due to the fact that I had to save the file in low quality to comply with the limit of 380 kb, this has affected the sharpness. The full file format is crystal clear! Guaranteed! ;-)
The polarizer I used it to "pierce" the ice in the foreground by removing the reflection of the sky and thus accentuating the contrast between the white edge of the frozen pond and the central dark. Are perfectly Conscious of the fact that the rotary control in this case has no effect on the sky. :-D
I did not use ND filters (I do not own) but GND or graduated. The advantage is simply to compensate for the difference in brightness between the foreground and sky allowing to obtain a proper exposure of the entire frame. It 'an alternative to the double exposure that would stata otherwise required in this situation. I chose to try to get the picture "on the ground" in the past I did a lot of photos in double exposure and I'm not here to say that my way of working is better than those who do double exposure. Mine is simply a choice dictated by the fact that working in this way gives me more satisfaction. I think for many frequenters of this forum photography is a passion more than a job, so I think it is right that each of us has his own way in order to achieve maximum satisfaction from your passion! :-) It 's no doubt that both techniques work, if properly used, lead to good results.
Thank you for the ride, compliments, and suggestions.
Hello,
Diego.
