Airone cenerino(Ardea Cinerea)classificato da Linneo1758,e' un uccello appartenente alla famiglia degli ardeidi,originario del Vecchio Mondo e le regioni temperate,oltre che dell'Africa e' la specie che si spinge più a Nord con ben oltre il Circolo Polare Artico.L'adulto si presenta con il piumaggio superiore grigio e bianco in quello inferiore,la statura e tra 90-98 cm pesa 1020-2073 gr,raggiunge l'apertura alare di 1,70 cm,le zampe e il becco sono colore giallo,quando vola tiene il collo ripiegato a S,non essendo migratore a lungo raggio, inizia la costruzione del nido già' nel mese di febbraio.Il nido accoglie da 4-5 uova. E nel mese di marzo che bisogna aspettare la deposizione delle uova e allo svezzamento dei pulcini.Una volta venuti alla luce i pulcini dell'Airone Cenerino sono nutriti dalla madre per 50 giorni ,ma solo il 60% raggiungerà' l'eta' adulta.L'alimentazione della specie include pesci,rane e girini ,bisce d'acqua,invertebrati e piccoli mammiferi,che l'Airone cenerino trafigge specialmente con il suo robusto becco.
