Erebia tyndarus Esper 1781 Nome Volgare: Tindaro Famiglia: Nymphalidae Sottofamiglia: Satyrinae Tribù: Erebiini Lunghezza ala anteriore mm. 16-18 Descrizione: sverna come larva. Le uova sono deposte singolarmente sulla pianta nutrice: quando nascono le larve hanno vita solitaria e si impupano direttamente sul terreno nello strato erbaceo. Maschio: colore bruno scuro con riflessi verdastri. Ali anteriori con banda postdiscale rossastra che si estende fino alla nervatura dioscocellulare. Due piccole macchie ocellari nere pupillate di bianco negli spazi compresi tra le nervature mediane. Femmina: simile al maschio ma leggermente più grande e di colore più chiaro. Rovescio: simile al dritto nelle anteriori, le posteriori sono bruno grigiastre con fasce screziate trasversali, colori più chiari per la femmina. Distribuzione: Alpi Habitat: pendici erbose e rocciose del piano cacuminale, da 1700 sino a circa 2300 metri s.l.m. Generazioni annuali: una sola con sfarfallamento in luglio-agosto Piante nutrici: Nardus stricta, Poa annua, Festuca sp.
