Guardando un po' prima di partire cosa potevo trovarmi sul luogo, ero attratto dai leoni del Kalahari sulle dune rosse. Nel parco ci sono leoni maschi belli, con una criniera degna di questo nome (al contrario del Kruger). Purtroppo è mancato una vera occasione avendoli trovato attorno alle dune solo in questa occasione e in un'altra ben più triste di una sola leonessa ferita.
