Uuuh that connects beauty! I find it fantastic compliments ;-)

Ah yes, the photo is fake, the reflection can not be so firm and perfectly symmetrical. Even your attempt to change the color and brightness of the water is in vain 8-) (the beautiful pebbles on the first floor added in post production)

Obviously I'm dead serious: D, but this seems to be the latest line of thought, a little 'exasperated joke ;-)

It was from this spring I had in mind a trip to Sorapiss ... not perhaps the best known and most visited lake in the Dolomites but for me it is definitely one of the most beautiful and fascinating I've ever seen, especially for its incredible color makes it unique and the famous Finger of God is reflected in its heavenly waters.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to find optimal lighting conditions to photograph, is located in a valley surrounded by rocky walls and the best time is to photograph the sunrise. One night in a shelter is therefore a must if you want to find the best lighting conditions. I had never been there and not knowing how they would lit the tops, I decided to get to the shores of the lake a little before dawn to photograph even the moments before the rising of the sun which in some cases may be even more striking ( thanks to the light already hot but more uniform and not direct sunlight). The dawn was reallyffascinante also find the fact that in absolute silence and peace in an almost surreal.

The photo was taken 20 minutes before sunrise when the very first light, much broader and less direct, allowed the peaks of color more evenly than a beautiful pink, and it was for me the best time ... the rise of sun lit up the red enrosadira unfortunately only a small portion of the peaks of reducing a lot of my expectations deludendomi a bit.

Overall, however, despite not having brought home the picture I had in mind, the experience and the emotions experienced were really strong but unfortunately at that time the light did not allow me to valirizzare the main feature of the pond that is its color .. who knows maybe I will return in the future!

Thanks Catherine and Alberider

@ Alberider: Yes exactly 114 seconds, the light 20 minutes before dawn is still weak and exposure so long has allowed me to capture a more diffused light and uniform ;-)

I used a polarizing filter to manage the reflection in the water ;-)

Nice shot, with a nice reflection.
Best regardless of the time I have been there only giorna but I thought that the 'best time was the sunset because it gives me idea that the finger of God is more enlightened, that you've tried them you also see the sunset? It 's all in the shade?

Thanks Picenin

At sunset, the peaks are found in shadows and backlit (the sun sets behind) and is not the best position to photograph the lake

Ok thanks Matthew, so if Alba! Too bad the refuge closes before the arrival of autumn colors because the larch trees that surround the lake inflamed by the first rays should be a show.

E 'for two years I want to go at sunrise but still did not succeed! The photo is very nice although I'd like to see the same scene a few minutes later, with the light of the peaks (even if you wrote that you are on a great deal). Then the place is spectacular and your photos do it justice!

Bravo Matthew! ;)

a nice place, but above all a very good shot! At first I thought I had mistyped 114 sec .. seemed like a normal exposure! :-D

Bellissima!, I do not know the place, you could cut them horizontally? to give some relief to the image and take a greater portion of the lake.

Hello Mark,
the pond is located at the foot of Sorapiss and to be able to frame the whole reflected the only option was a vertical cut, here with the 17-40mm I was already at the limit of the possibilities

Thanks
Teo ;-)
