Astral68 carry your message so I was pleased ... Thank you ..!

E 'a sequence fantastic, it is seen also that the tail part from this fragment. Of all the pictures of Panstarrs, this is certainly the most special! This deserves more, put it in the group of Minor Planet. One should also sky & telescope, in this way could also end up on APOD.

Manolito dear, I do not want to disappoint you, but it is certainly NOT a comet fragment. If that were so we should move so fast as to verge on the speed of light ...
It's probably a plane for an incredible coincidence is passed over.

The photos are still beautiful.

I was present at the time of shooting, the sequence lasted almost 15 minutes, so it CAN NOT be a plane. It 's definitely a piece of the comet, in fact the last picture, the bigger one, it is clear that the tail part precisely from that fragment. However manolito I do not want to give the original shot to be controlled, so that it comes to nothing.

That night I watched myself, not showing you the time, but ten minutes later: I have not seen anything possible in 10 minutes any fragment of the comet has disappeared for good? Sorry to be skeptical, but such an event, with everyone having their eyes on the comet, do not you think it would have been recorded by others? There should be some pictures for confirmation taken up by others at the same time and a reference time perciso single shots.

hello

Hello Clare,
I understand your skepticism: the beginning of the alleged detachment is the first frame would of 19:18, the last one, where you can not see more than anything, is the 19:34, it also took fabio after 19:40 and As you can see there is no trace of anything even I have other shots at that time is confirm what you say. then it is assumed that this unique and rare event has occurred over a period of 15/18 min.Tra the other if known well, especially in the second photo the fragment resulted in a second tail / trail next to the comet, so if it is a fragment of what would that be? cmq I gave my shots to professionals in order to verify the authenticity 'of the event. :-P

Reply to Clare ... I was with Emmanuel, he had occupied astroinseguitore with his canon, and did this shoot. Shot after shot, I saw this piece back towards the comet. Then he took off his car, and I put my nikon, but now there was nothing to do. But carefully preparing my image, I saw one last little detail, to confirm what photographed by Emanuele. This outburst will last no more than ten minutes, but there was. The history of astronomy is full of such cases, we speak of Comet Biela, which was divided into two and formed 3 code? One is free to think what you want, now with the digital processing you can not trust anything at all, but I was there, I saw, and that's enough. Others can believe what I wantnot. Now I have pictures of Emmanuel, will give him a look and let you know. hello

I do not doubt your good faith, God forbid. It amazes me just that with so many eyes on the comet only you have seen! In those minutes were not yet taking, but we had already the comet at gunpoint, my husband watched with a SC of 20 cm, you would have also seen the eyepiece, the "fragment" seems bright enough. Aspect, however, with more curiosity, keep us updated!

Ok, if the times are those probably not a plane, but I repeat that this is NOT SAFE FOR a piece of a comet. Such an object would take days to move in that space.

As noted by Clare, will be seen by thousands of amateur astronomers who are searching the comet second by second. Myself that night I did shoot, very deep, like this: www.astrosurf.com/comolli/com38.htm

I invite you to check very well the pictures and try to understand what problem has occurred. I do not know, a reflection, or whatever.
I give you a hand if you want to know, send me in private Raw.

Lorenzo

Hello Lorenzo, everything can be, however, rule out the plane, because this "project" is the first release off the comet, and within ten minutes he returned to the nucleus. This streak of light remained near the comet all the time, if it was a plane would be removed, he would not go "back and forth". If you want to examine the original picture, you should ask to Manolito because you own, I can not give you one copy. Surely you will satisfy, because even if something has happened in the nucleus of the comet, its knowledge must be available to all, and should not remain in the hands of the individual. And then you have to consider the individual photo, but the set of all the shots, which I think are a dozen, all in sequence. Anyway, thanks for your intervention, congratulations for youor articles of astronomy and thanks to Clare.
