Nel mettere un pò di ordine e raziocinio nelle mie gallerie fiorentine mi sono reso conto di non aver postato alcuno scatto della nobilissima ed al contempo popolare piazza di San Lorenzo: ho rimediato con una rapida sortita nella bolla di calura che da giorni opprime il centro cittadino! La splendida Basilica di San Lorenzo, antichissimo luogo di culto paleocristiano, fu per trecento anni la cattedrale di Firenze, prima di cedere lo status alla vicina Santa Reparata, allorchè furono solennemente traslate le reliquie mortali del vescovo e santo Zanobi. Nei pressi di San Lorenzo sembra avesse la propria residenza Matilde di Canossa, duchessa di Toscana morta nel 1115, che da qui riuscì a garantire una certa concordia tra i facinorosi e bellicosi partiti cittadini dell'epoca ...
