Uno scambio di tenerezza tra Valentine e il suo custode Albert Lenamarker. La piccola giraffa, così chiamata perché salvata il 14 febbraio, è stata trovata sola nella foresta, spaventata, affamata e disidratata dopo aver perso la madre. La comunità locale è rimasta con lei per alcuni giorni aspettando, invano, il ritorno della mamma. Si è deciso quindi di trasferirla al @r.e.s.c.u.e Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, dove tuttora si stanno prendendo cura di lei. La popolazione di giraffe è diminuita del 40% in 30 anni e ora ne sono rimaste meno di 70.000 in natura, che giornalmente affrontano minacce, dalla perdita dell'habitat al bracconaggio. Ho avuto il privilegio di trascorrere qualche giorno con Valentine, gli elefanti orfani e la bellissima comunità di Reteti. Essere testimoni l'amore genuino e la cura che i custodi hanno per tutti questi piccoli è davvero toccante.
