Per chi non lo conosce il Dhobi Ghat è l' enorme lavanderia umana a cielo aperto di Mumbai. Nonostante Mumbai sia la città più ricca e moderna dell' India, gran parte degli indumenti e della biancheria, come nel resto del paese, vengono ancora lavati a mano da persone che, con la pelle delle mani corrosa dalla soda e dal sapone, per poche rupie lavano dentro a grandi lavabi di pietra utilizzati da oltre 150 anni.
