Il vento soffiava impetuoso ed il freddo, nonostante primavera inoltrata, a quella quota si faceva sentire, penetrando come aghi sul mio viso e sulle mie mani. Ad un tratto tra i pini ed i faggi si ergeva l'albero più bello, un faggio secolare che con tutte le sue forze resisteva al vento. È lì da circa 200 anni e le intemperie ne hanno modellato le forme, ma ciò lo ha reso il più forte e caratteristico, un vero gladiatore del bosco.
