ALTILIA-Saepinum è un insediamento archeologico della dissepolta città romana di Altilia. Posta nella piana di Bojano in provincia di Campobasso, era al centro del tratturo Pescasseroli-Candela e delle vie di comunicazione sia verso la Daunia (prov. di Foggia) che verso la Campania con i relativi sbocchi sui due mari. Una posizione privilegiata di cui i Romani compresero l'importanza strategica, tanto da dotarla di strutture ed arricchirla di monumenti degni di città di ben altra rilevanza. Sotto l'imperatore Augusto ebbe il massimo splendore ed espansione commerciale con all'interno delle mura di una basilica,un teatro, un foro , il macellum, terme, 2 mausolei funerari oltre ad innumerevoli botteghe, edifici civili e magazzini, fontane ed anche una rete fognaria.Tali emergenze architettoniche sono tutt'ora visibili. L'area, estesa 12 ettari, è ancora oggi interessata da scavi . Visitandola, si fa un vero e proprio viaggio nel tempo. In uno degli edifici recuperati, ha sede il museo visitabile con una modica spesa. Spero che le foto pubblicate , rendano giustizia a questo sito che non è molto conosciuto (nel 2017 solo poco più di 20.ooo visitatori) e valorizzato, nonostante sia di una bellezza unica.
