Con il nome La Prugna, vengono definiti i ruderi di quello che era un avamposto adibito al controllo del territorio in epoca medievale. Le prime notizie scritte risalgono al XV secolo, dove si parla di un “Fundus Apruneus” (da cui il nome) ceduto da Gentile Virginio Orsini ad Alessandro Passamonti signore di Arsoli. Successivamente al suo abbandono, il borgo fu occupato dal brigante Marco Sciarra che con la sua banda, compì numerose razzie nei paesi della Valle dell'Aniene. Di ciò si ha notizia ufficiale nella Bolla Papale di Sisto V datata I Luglio 1585, nella quale si ordinava la distruzione del rifugio La Prugna. Attualmente sono ancora ben visibili i resti della torre di avvistamento, mentre altri ruderi sono completamente ricoperti dalla vegetazione.
