Questa vettura venne prodotta dopo l'acquisizione della Maserati, nel 1976, da parte dell'ex pilota ed imprenditore Alejandro de Tomaso. La Biturbo venne prodotta nelle versioni Berlina (questa nella fotografia), Coupé e Spider dal 1982 al 1992 con diverse migliorie nei diversi aggiornamenti susseguitisi nel tempo. Era dotata di un motore con 6 cilindri a V di 90° che aveva diverse cilindrate: per il mercato italiano era di 1996 cm3 con 180 cavalli di potenza mentre per il mercato americano la cilindrata era di 2491 cm3 così che la potenza saliva a 192 cavalli. Venne poi adottato pure un motore di 2790 cm3 erogante 279 cavalli.
