Posa totale della foto è di 20h e 37minuti ed è stata scattata nelle notti dei mesi di Aprile e Maggio con una Canon EOS 6D. Set-up: EQ6 Synscan PRO, Newton Skywatcher 200/1000, Autoguida con Tecnosky 80/328 mm. La Iris è una nebulosa blu a riflessione, ossia riflette la luce di alcune stelle vicine; la stella principale è responsabile della sua illuminazione la quale si trova avvolta dalla nebulosa, assieme ad altre stelle meno brillanti, nate dalle sue polveri oscure, che si vedono sparse tutt'intorno all'ammasso. La nebulosa dista da noi circa 1400 anni luce e fa parte del vasto complesso nebuloso molecolare di Cefeo visibile verso il Nord e molto vicino alla stella polare.
