Era ormai novembre in quel lontano 2014 e dopo molti rinvii ero riuscito ad organizzare una visita in un luogo che da sempre mi affascinava. Con un mio caro amico, che mi avrebbe fatto da guardia spalle, mi sono recato alla ex Chiari e Forti in località Silea in provincia di Treviso. Si tratta di una ex zona industriale abbandonata dove bisogna prestare attenzione, essendo isolata ed incustodita non si sa mai chi si possa incontrare, avevo intenzione di fare un po di fotografie. L'ambiente internamente è tutto di legno con grossi travi che sorreggono i vari piani, all'interno si trovano grossi scivoli che servivano per far defluire le sementi, ambiente molto particolare che sicuramente meritava delle foto. Mai mi sarei immaginato che da li ad un anno il mulino sarebbe andato distrutto causa un grande incendio, appiccato da qualche ottuso delinquente. A distanza di tempo restano delle belle foto e il rammarico per una perdita di un edificio storico. Quest'oleificio è nato come mulino Toso [la parte più antica è risalente al 1881] di proprietà del cavalier Angelo Toso, che nel 1922 fonda a Venezia la Società Anonima Mulini Angelo Toso, legata alla famiglia Stucky, proprietaria del celebre mulino alla Giudecca. Quello di Silea infatti veniva chiamato Il Piccolo Stucky. Il mulino nel 1937 fu venduto dagli Stucky all'azienda alimentare parmense: Chari & Forti, (inizialmente costituita da due mulini) che dal 1930 aveva costruito un terzo mulino a Porto Marghera, per far attraccate le navi ed imbarcare la merce sui burchi e risalendo le acque fluviali, rifornire il mulino. Acquistando il mulino di Silea, la ditta con quattro mulini, divenne una delle più importanti società molitorie italiane. Nel 1957 la Chiari & Forti è la prima a lanciare sul mercato un olio di semi in lattina: l'olio Topazio. Nel 1959 nasce l'olio Cuore: il primo olio di mais dietetico (quello della famosa pubblicità del salto della staccionata, entrato nelle case di tutti gli italiani). Negli anni '60 lungo le sponde del fiume Sile quest'opificio è stato il simbolo del Nord Est produttivo. A fine anni '70, la crisi, l'ingresso di una società americana nel capitale dell'azienda, fa produrre Gatorade e “petfood”. Dopo i debiti, il fallimento, l'abbandono dello stabilimento, i ripetuti tentativi di metterlo all'asta, dopo l'incendio nel 2015 … di questo Gigante resta lo spettro del passato glorioso nei ricordi delle persone.
