Igor Mitoraj (pronuncia /'igor mi't?raj/; Oederan, 26 marzo 1944 – Parigi, 6 ottobre 2014[1] ) è stato uno scultore e pittore polacco.

Dopo aver studiato pittura alla Scuola d'arte di Cracovia e all'Accademia d'arte di Cracovia sotto la guida di Tadeusz Kantor, partecipò a diverse esposizioni collettive, ottenendo la prima personale nel 1967 alla Galleria Krzysztofory in Polonia. Nel 1968 si trasferì a Parigi, per continuare i suoi studi artistici.

Poco dopo rimase affascinato dall'arte e dalla cultura Latino-Americane e decise di passare un anno dipingendo e viaggiando in Messico. Questa esperienza lo avvicinò alla scultura.

Tornò a Parigi nel 1974 e due anni dopo tenne un'altra personale alla Galleria La Hune, nella quale erano incluse alcune sculture. Il successo dell'esposizione lo convinse a dedicarsi a tempo pieno alla scultura.

Dopo aver lavorato con terracotta e bronzo, a seguito di un viaggio a Carrara nel 1979, decise di passare alla lavorazione del marmo. Nel 1983 aprì uno studio a Pietrasanta[2] .
