Montagnana mostra molte casette addossate ad alcuni lati del perimetro interno delle sue mura medioevali.
La gran parte venne costruita sotto le arcate nel primo Ottocento da parte dei cittadini dei ceti popolari, con richiesta di autorizzazioni e rilascio dei relativi permessi. Al tempo dei Carraresi e del primo dominio veneziano per motivi di sicurezza vigeva il divieto assoluto. Troppo importante era la necessità di difendere le mura e i soldati dovevano avere totale libertà di movimento. Più tardi le autorità venete con il momentaneo cessare dei pericoli accettarono che i cittadini utilizzassero questi spazi per poter godere degli affitti, situazione che proseguì fino al 1775, salvo poi ritirarli per motivi di sicurezza e igiene pubblica. Nel 1835 il Vicerè del Lombardo-Veneto consentì contratti di enfiteusi ma vietando di toccare le mura. Vi furono nei secoli passati alcuni abusi da parte di chi volle aprire delle finestre dentro le mura in epoca di dominio austriaco, ma furono subito repressi e prontamente riparati. Attualmente queste casette addossate alle mura offrono una certa armonia visiva, tanti colori e un tocco pittoresco. Questa che ho ritratto nella notte è tra le pochissime all'interno di una torre e non semplicemente addossata alle arcate.
Credo sia la più bella e credo che Montagnana meriti questa fotografia.
