Letzte Station: Auschwitz sent on September 06, 2019 (8:59) by Alberto Dall'oglio. 11 comments, 442 views.

at 16mm, 1/60 f/5.6, ISO 6400, hand held. Berlin, Germany.

If you wanted to let the drama and despair breathe. You did it.

I think the purpose of this proposal is not so much to "shock" by breathing in the drama and despair, but that of
to remember what (fortunately) has not been known

I propose the phrase of Primo Levi that I mentioned on " Memory Void"
If understanding is impossible, knowing is necessary, because what has happened can return, consciences can again be seduced and obscured: our

Through this photo we perceive the same sense of " daniel Libeskind's recreated at the Jédisches Museum in Berlin, only this time it is not a work, but a historical document and, for this reason, even more emotionally engaging.
I fully share your photographic journey, Alberto.
A greeting,
Viola

Thank you for dwelling on this image!
If you wanted to let the drama and despair breathe. You did it.

In fact Antonio, as you can read from the caption, was not my intent; viola understood it well when quoting my words. Apparently there is nothing dramatic about an empty wagon: it is the value of that wagon that makes the difference. I was only interested in remembering, keeping alive the memory, especially for those who, like me, did not live that historical period: the words of Primo Levi who quoted Viola are perfect!
Viola, I thank you so much for your approval and not only for this photo, but for the entire "path" that I proposed: you understood exactly what, humbly, I wanted to communicate!
Thank you too Andrea! ;-)

Quoto Viola
unfortunately the darkness grows slowly in our consciences, giving it space gradually, and can become so dense that it does not allow even the light of memoryto pass

Thank you Michele, it's true what you write! It is precisely this "pervasive insinuation" of darkness in our consciences that is frightening and that must be absolutely fought with the "light of memory", because the risk is really that feared by Primo Levi!
Thank you Simone for also enjoying this shot, which from a purely photographic point of view is not a great deal, but serves as a tool for personal reflection: I agree with what you have written!
Hello, Alberto.
