Il Rifugio Torino è stato costruito nei primi anni '50 grazie alle sezioni del CAI di Torino e Aosta, oltre ad una partecipazione finanziaria della Regione Valle d'Aosta. Da allora il Rifugio Torino non è più stato oggetto di lavori significativi, fino all'estate 2015. Dal 2011 Il Rifugio è stato di fondamentale importanza per la realizzazione della ormai celebre Skyway Monte Bianco. Qui hanno soggiornato per 4 lunghi anni gli operai della Cordée, che con il loro impegno hanno completato a tempo di record un'opera titanica. Il lavoro infatti è stato portato avanti in condizioni molto dure: freddo, vento, neve, aria rarefatta e turni massacranti hanno complicato non poco la vita a tutti coloro che erano impegnati nel lavoro.
