Fare un giro in feluca, la barca a vela simbolo del Nilo, è un'esperienza unica. A seconda del tempo a disposizione e dell'ispirazione - la navigazione in feluca è propizia all'ozio e alla contemplazione - avrete la scelta tra un piccolo giro di fronte ad Assuan, fra le isole, la più vicina è senz'altro quella Elefantina. Il vostro giro in feluca, sarà anche ravvivato dalla presenza di ragazzini egiziani, che si accostano alla vostra imbarcazione, con mezzi di fortuna, spesso anche a nuoto, e cantano a squarciagola l'Inno nazionale del vostro Paese, in cambio di qualche euro. Arrivati sull'isola, dirigendovi verso uno dei suoi villaggi nubiani, sarete assaliti da frotte di bambini di tutte le età, che vi chiederanno di tutto: soldi, dolci, penne, etc. I villaggi dell'Elefantina, hanno un fascino particolare con le loro stradine ombrate, circondate di giardini, sono tra le più belle e il museo nubiano è una visita istruttiva sulla storia della flora e della fauna di un tempo. I paesaggi bucolici hanno un'importanza predominante anche su quest'isola, dove ammirerete i giardini su terrazze, le culture orticole e gli alberi da frutto tra cui i centenari alberi di mango della valle del Nilo.
