Il ponte, elemento costruttivo e funzionale nella sua doppia valenza di struttura urbana al servizio degli abitanti e di peculiarità estetica a beneficio del decoro cittadino, è simbolo vero ed intima essenza di Comacchio ... Prima delle grandi bonifiche del Novecento il borgo, sorto secondo tradizione sopra tredici isolotti ricompresi tra i cordoni costieri di età etrusca, era totalmente circondato dalle Valli e di fatto costituiva un unicum di città lagunare entro la terraferma: paradossalmente furono proprio i ponti ad essere modificati ed in parte distrutti per adeguare il sistema viario di strade e canali alle moderne esigenze di traffico su ruota ...
