Con questo portfolio ho voluto rappresentare la tradizione contadina calabrese, quella che ancora oggi si dedica alla raccolta delle olive e lo fa “alla vecchia maniera”, selezionando manualmente ogni singolo frutto dopo averlo lanciato in aria col setaccio (il cd. “crivo”). Antonia, che vive a Zungri, un piccolo paesino della provincia di Vibo Valentia, durante il periodo della cd. invaiatura, tra ottobre e dicembre, quando avviene il cambiamento di colore del frutto che da verde diventa violaceo, ancora oggi si dedica alla raccolta delle olive senza l'ausilio di alcun macchinario elettrico-industriale. In pochi luoghi ormai si effettua la raccolta e la pulizia delle olive in maniera manuale e con queste sei immagini Antonia, oltre che protagonista della storia, diventa anche il simbolo di una tradizione, viva e presente in alcuni piccoli centri dell'entroterra ma che ormai va sempre più scomparendo nel resto del mondo. . . .
