IL DUOMO VECCHIO DI BRESCIA Il Duomo vecchio, o Concattedrale invernale di Santa Maria Assunta, di Brescia, condivide questo nome con l'adiacente Duomo nuovo. Costruito a partire dall'XI secolo sopra una precedente basilica, ha subito più di un ampliamento nel corso dei secoli ma ha conservato intatta l'originale struttura romanica, che ne fa uno dei più importanti esempi di rotonde romaniche in Italia. La cattedrale contiene anche numerose e importanti opere, fra le quali spiccano un sepolcro di Bonino da Campione, l'organo di Giangiacomo Antegnati, il sarcofago marmoreo di Berardo Maggi e il ciclo di tele del Moretto e del Romanino realizzato per la cappella del Santissimo Sacramento della Basilica di San Pietro de Dom e qui trasferite dopo la sua demolizione. Di grande importanza è anche la cripta, risalente al VI secolo ma restaurata nell'VIII secolo. Per le sue caratteristiche e per l'altissimo grado di conservazione delle strutture originarie, il Duomo vecchio di Brescia si posiziona fra i più tradizionali e importanti esempi di rotonde romaniche in Italia. L'aspetto attuale è frutto di due ampliamenti: uno della fine del Quattrocento, che aggiunse l'attuale presbiterio e l'abside sul fondo, e uno praticato durante la seconda metà del Cinquecento, che completò il transetto e praticò altri interventi. Di grande importanza è anche la sottostante cripta, risalente al VI secolo ma restaurata nell'VIII secolo. Commenti, consigli e critiche sempre super graditi.
