This photo was made with the technique of Light Painting using a black cloth as a background located about 30-40 cm behind the subject.
The table top is a cutting board for meats. For the lighting, I used a small flashlight powered by two AA 1.5-volt.
After preparing the composition and have focused on the subject, I turned off the light in the room and with the torch I lit portions of the subject that I liked to be visible continuously moving the small beam of light.

Shooting data:
Nikon D70 - Lens AF-Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 D - Aperture f 22 - Exposure 30/2 - ISO 200?

Thanks in advance for suggestions and criticisms.

Very nice, with beautiful warm tones.

If I had not anticipated the description of the know-how I thought superprof lamps, flash, etc ...

Really good, and as I said good for how you made everything.

Stefano

still life in the well crafted composition, refined formal abstraction

beautiful light, reminiscent of the works of the Flemish, rather than a set of modern still.life
compliments

First of all congratulations for the galleries of still life and the macro "dynamic"!
I enjoy myself in my small way to use LED torches (I have a collection among multiled and adjustable beam!) When I photograph flowers and plants in macro, placing a hand in the meantime the delayed shutter release. (See the newly inserted)
Your photo simulates very well the light of a window, you have used some speaker or are you just moved the light source?

@ Max57: No Max no speaker, for lighting I used only a small flashlight in the dark room-

Thank you all for your visits and comments.
I used this picture because, for those interested, I have posted on my website in the Studio tutorials, a fairly detailed description of how it was done.

The report even below:

Still Life - Light Painting.

This photograph was made using the technique of Light Painting.
First I prepared the composition using a black cloth as a background located about 30 - 40 cm behind the subject.
Soon after I set the camera on a tripod and I focused with AF is on (single shot at the point marked by the yellow circle).
I preferred to focus on an element positioned in front and I did not spaced too the various elementsof the composition.
Later I turned off the light, if you pressed the shutter button AF would start to spin with the light off because he would not find the previously selected point, so before starting the shutter, I put the light (from a small flashlight powered by two 1.5 volt bulbs), exactly where I focused on before and after I pressed the shutter button.
Once this is done I started to move repeatedly and continuously with fast swings the bulb through the small beam of light on the whole still life without stopping for more than a second on a single point, in order to avoid as much as possible reflections often are formed mainly of rounded surfaces such as apple.
In some areas the past several times with light in other bodyand less.
It 'best not to illuminate the subject for not too overexposed areas more difficult to recover during the development of RAW.
The exposure time (30 seconds) was more than enough to illuminate the entire composition.
The diaphragm very closed (f/22) has enabled (as well as having a depth of field elevanta that makes visible all the elements of the composition) to avoid that, during repeated passages of light on still life, also the occurrence of overexposed areas .

The photo gallery is located in the Studio - Nature Morte 1.

Shooting data:
Nikon D70 - AF-Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 D
Aperture f/22 - Exposure 30/2 - ISO 200
Stand - No Flash - Mode A (priority, Diaphragms)
Focal Length 40 mm
