Un sabato qualsiasi in una piazza Duomo, piena di gente, di urla, di capannelli di giovani che aspettano sempre qualcuno del gruppo. Fa molto freddo, si battono i piedi, ci si muove, quasi per scrollarsi di dosso il gelo, come se dal movimento di un momento, potesse scaturire una fonte di calore. Attraverso la piazza con la mia reflex per andare verso la Mondadori, e vedo più da vicino questi ragazzi, e ne riporto una strana sensazione. Non ho visto un bel sorriso solare, solo facce stanche, annoiate alcuni, altri con gli occhi fissi sullo smartphone, qualcuno fa cenni d'insofferenza, verso chi o cosa non si capisce bene. Basta soffermarsi un po' a guardarli, per leggervi disillusione, e forse anche rabbia, quasi come se in loro non ci fosse consapevolezza della gioventù che stanno vivendo e che, forse stanno bruciando o sacrificando, in giornate vuote, senza entusiasmo e prospettive. E la mente inevitabilmente fa un flashback e torni a tanti anni fa, quando eravamo giovani noi: la differenza, credo sia abissale. Non avevamo nulla, né tecnologia, né soldi, né lussi, pasti assicurati e libri, ma in casa c'era armonia, gioia di ritrovarsi, quando si riusciva ad avere qualche lira, si volava in pizzeria con quattro amici, ma non era un'abitudine, era una grande, piacevole eccezione. Ho conosciuto ragazzi che veramente per mantenerli agli studi, le famiglie facevano enormi sacrifici. Ne ricordo uno, in particolare, Dario, adesso vice primario del Policlinico di Bari, e quando ci rivediamo, ancora ridiamo perché, andando a mangiare un panzerotto da Ippocampo a Bari in via Sparano, per festeggiare un trenta e lode all'esame, sul più bello, sulla giacca, cadde un po' di salsa di pomodoro. “Ti credo” – ricorda –" buttai quella delizia nel cestino, perché già immaginavo le paturnie di mia madre.
