Mentre procedo speditamente attraversando questo continente fondamentalmente piatto, ecco che all'orizzonte iniziano a stagliarsi le sagome inconfondibili dei monti Olgas o meglio Kata Tjuta per gli aborigeni. Conosco le sagome, ci sono già stato. Più che monti, sembrano un gruppo di ciclopiche teste. La strada ridiventa asfaltata all'Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. Ho completato il primo lungo tratto della Great Central Road. Venendo dal WA ti ritrovi nel parco senza passare dall'ingresso che è ovviamente a pagamento e soprattutto a tempo. Da un'ora prima dell'alba a dopo il tramonto. E' certamente il posto più visitato in Australia. Le tonalità dei rossi che Uluru e Kata Tjuta assumono all'alba ed al tramonto sono assolutamente incredibili e variano di secondo in secondo mentre il sole sale o scende. Quello che vorrei fare sono delle foto notturne, ma esiste il problema orario di chiusura. Al momento però io non sono registrato all'ingresso e quindi non devo necessariamente uscire dal parco. Sbuco accanto all'area di sosta utilizzata per il tramonto sui Kata Tjuta.
