Nasce nel VII secolo, lo stile architettonico all'esterno principalmente barocco e rococò, mentre al suo interno alterna parti risalenti all'epoca siceliota, poiché appartenenti al tempio greco e parti risalenti all'epoca medievale, costruite dai Normanni verso il seicento e così lasciate fino ai giorni attuali.
