#StorieDiPiume #Wild BECCAMOSCHINO - NOME SCIENTIFICO: Cisticola juncidis Ordine: Passeriformes Famiglia: Cisticolidae La popolazione del Beccamoschino si concentra prevalentemente in pianura e sui primi rilievi, fino ai 500 metri di altitudine. Nelle zone di montagna invece la sua presenza è molto localizzata. Predilige in primo luogo ambienti umidi quali paludi, aree costiere, cave di argilla e lungofiumi, ma lo si può incontrare anche in spazi aperti più secchi come i pascoli o i campi coltivati. Sceglie comunque di norma una vegetazione incolta e folta, formata da sterpaglie ed erba alta. La specie si distribuisce tra le regioni equatoriali, tropicali e subtropicali, dall'Africa all'Australia, passando per la Cina e il Giappone. In Europa si concentra soprattutto nell'area mediterranea e, durante la stagione fredda, si sposta nella parte meridionale dell'areale, fino a raggiungere il Nord Africa. La popolazione della sottospecie C.J. cisticola è invece presente nell'isola di Pantelleria e nelle isole Pelagie, in modo particolare a Lampedusa. In generale in Italia la specie si concentra principalmente nella Pianura Padana, ma è distribuita in gran parte della penisola, fatta eccezione per le Alpi e i rilievi appenninici più interni. Il Beccamoschino è uno degli uccelli più piccoli che abitano il continente europeo: misura circa 10-11 centimetri e il suo peso non supera gli 8-9 grammi. Non si apprezzano particolari differenze tra i due sessi. Entrambi, infatti, presentano il piumaggio delle parti superiori di color bruno-ocra e il dorso è attraversato da striature nere. Le parti inferiori tendono invece a una tonalità biancastra, gola e ventre compresi. Le ali sono punteggiate e striate di nero, mentre il becco è rosa-arancio. La coda è corta e arrotondata e le zampe vanno dal rosa al giallo. Il Beccamoschino si nutre principalmente di insetti e semi che raccoglie sull'erba o nei cespugli. Il periodo riproduttivo va da maggio a luglio e vengono deposte in media due o tre covate l'anno. In primavera il maschio prepara parzialmente diversi nidi e con il suo volo nuziale vi attira diverse femmine. Subito dopo l'accoppiamento sono queste ultime a completare il nido, utilizzando erba secca intrecciata a ragnatele, dandogli una forma a coppa allungata. A ogni covata vengono deposte dalle 4 alle 6 uova che vengono incubate per 10-11 giorni. I pulcini rimangono poi nel nido per almeno due settimane.
