La Porta Magica, detta anche Porta Alchemica, si trova a Roma in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, nel quartiere Esquilino; essa è quanto resta della villa del Marchese di Pietraforte Massimiliano Palombara, il quale era appassionato di scienze esoteriche e di alchimia. La leggenda narra di un giovane pellegrino di nome Giuseppe Borri, ospite del Marchese, che condusse vari esperimenti per trovare la pietra filosofale che gli avrebbe consentito di tramutare la materia in oro. L'ultimo giorno fu visto sparire attraverso la porta magica, lasciando una pagliuzza d'oro ed alcune pergamene piene di enigmi e simboli magici che nessuno fu in grado di decifrare. Fu così che il Marchese Palombara decise di farli incidere sulle cornici delle porte della sua villa nella speranza che un giorno qualcuno fosse in grado di decifrarli, rivelando così il segreto della pietra filosofale. Mi scuso per la ripresa, ma l'area dove si trova la porta è chiusa al pubblico e ho dovuto fotografarla di traverso attraverso un cancello.
