Tutti la guardavano stupiti: i faggi, gli abeti, le querce, i rododendri e le pervinche. Nessuna pianta però poteva fare qualcosa, poiché legata alla terra dalle radici. Così neppure un fiore sarebbe potuto sbocciare tra le sue rocce. Su dal cielo, se ne accorsero anche le stelle, quando una notte le nuvole erano volate via per giocare a rimpiattino tra i rami dei pini più alti, una di loro ebbe pietà di quel pianto e senza speranza scese guizzando dal cielo. Scivolò tra le rocce e i crepacci della montagna, finché si posò stanca sull'orlo di un precipizio. Brrr!!! … Faceva freddo … Era stata proprio pazza per aver lasciato la serena tranquillità del cielo! Il gelo l'avrebbe certamente uccisa… Ma, la montagna corse ai ripari, grata per quella prova d'amicizia data col cuore. Avvolse la stella con le sue mani di roccia in una morbida peluria bianca.
