Il pesce rana peloso (Antennarius striatus) usa una finta esca per attrarre le prede, proprio come farebbe un pescatore umano! I numerosi "peli" che lo ricoprono (spinule) gli conferiscono l'aspetto di un sasso coperto di alghe. Una di queste spine è posta anteriormente e viene utilizzata proprio come una canna da pesca: all'apice possiede una struttura simile ad un verme, che viene agitata per attirare l'attenzione dell'ignara preda.
