Il sentiero dei doganieri, localizzato a ridosso delle selvagge quanto bellissime scogliere e spiagge di Carteret, veniva utilizzato dagli "ufficiali doganieri" in tempi remoti per l'avvistamento ed il successivo controllo delle imbarcazioni che si avvicinavano alla costa e al porto di questo piccolo borgo normanno della penisola del Contentin. Oggi rimangono poche tracce tangibili di questa struttura di controllo, come la casetta bianca qui ritratta e qualche altro rudere sparso tra le impervie pareti di roccia.
