La Centrale idroelettrica di Verampio, entrata in funzione nel 1914, si trova alla confluenza del fiume Toce e del torrente Devero e fu concepita per essere il fiore all'occhiello delle Imprese Conti: per questo il progetto architettonico venne affidato al celebre architetto milanese Piero Portaluppi. Gli edifici che compongono l'impianto sono stati concepiti per integrarsi armoniosamente nel paesaggio alpino e ricordano un castello medievale, con torri, campanili con l'orologio e parchi. L'impianto, situato nel Comune di Crodo, è caratterizzato da una potenza installata di circa 50 MW e la sua produzione è pari al consumo medio di 65 mila famiglie.
