Goritsy: borgo sulle rive di un affluente del Volga, ha un piccolo porto fluviale che facilita l'accesso a Kirillov, dove sorge il Monastero San Cirillo Beloserskij. Si tratta di uno dei monasteri russi più antichi, che dall'alto della sua fortezza domina il lago. Lungo il tragitto verso il monastero si ammirano i suggestivi paesaggi della Russia settentrionale, punteggiati da colline, foreste e laghi. Il monastero voluto da S. Cirillo Beloserskij alla fine del XV secolo divenne epicentro religioso, economico e culturale, e si arricchì grazie alle donazioni di Zar e Principi, grazie all'artigianato fiorente e al commercio. Il monastero si compone di tre parti: la più antica è detta Monastero della Dormizione, con la Cattedrale omonima e la maggior parte delle chiese. La seconda è dedicata a San Giovanni Battista mentre la terza è chiamata Città Nuova, essendo stata edificata con mura e torri possenti durante la seconda metà del XVII secolo. Le riforme di Pietro I e di Caterina II posero fine alla fioritura economica del monastero e nel 1924 l'apparato sovietico lo chiuse, trasformandolo in museo. Nel monastero, molte delle antiche sale, ospitano il Museo delle Icone. Si tratta di una delle più belle collezioni al mondo di icone, così come esemplari di arti grafiche, sculture in pietra, manoscritti e libri antichi. La foto è stata scattata da una Benq DC x720.
