Gennaio 2016, maschio di Allocco fotografato su un albero tipico del sud'Italia, il Carrubo. Oltre alle proprietà di questa pianta è un albero che si presta particolarmente per la nidificazione di questa splendida specie di rapace che qualche vecchio contadino mi ha segnalato come albero molto usato per mettere su casa...io ancora non ne ho travati di questi siti..ma prima o poi spero di essere fortunato:) facendo una ricerca sul Web ho trovato questo articolo interessante che parla di questa pianta. Il carrubo, il cui nome deriva dall'arabo “kharrub”, è una pianta sempreverde, molto longeva, potendo superare anche più secoli, e di grande taglia: riesce a raggiungere i 10-12 metri d'altezza, mentre il diametro della chioma spesso supera i 10 metri. I frutti della pianta, le mandorle, compaiono in primavera e giungono alla piena maturazione nel periodo di agosto-settembre. Il carrubo nasce come albero spontaneo nelle terre del bacino orientale del Mediterraneo. La sua coltivazione pare abbia inizio soltanto al tempo dei Greci, che la estendono in Sicilia, ma sono gli Arabi che ne intensificano la coltivazione e la propagano fino in Marocco e in Spagna. Altri Autori sostengono che l'originaria diffusione del carrubo in Sicilia sarebbe dovuta ai Fenici, i colonizzatori più antichi dell'isola. Attualmente la coltivazione del carrubo è diffusa nella Spagna meridionale e nelle Baleari, nel Portogallo, nelle coste settentrionali dell'Africa, nella Palestina, nel Libano e in Italia, soprattutto in Sicilia, che resta la regione italiana più ricca di carrubi. La coltivazione è concentrata nella fascia di territorio compresa fra le valli del Dirillo e dell'Anapo: nella sola provincia di Ragusa si trova il 72% della superficie nazionale investita, che dà il 70% della produzione italiana ed il 78% di quella isolana. Ancora oggi, nonostante le frequenti estirpazioni per far posto alle colture intensive ed in serra, il carrubo domina quasi incontrastato, e spesso, nei terreni più scoscesi, costituisce l'unica macchia di vegetazione. Le varietà di carrubo più diffuse in Sicilia sono la "Latinissima", la "Racemosa", la "Morescona", la "Saccarata" e la "Falcata". Le parti piu' importanti del frutto del carrubo sono la polpa ed i semi. Dalla prima si possono ottenere diversi prodotti: uno di questi è uno sfarinato al 10% di umidità, essiccato onde renderlo insilabile e scorrevole, pronto all'impiego immediato nella fabbricazione dei mangimi composti. Per quanto riguarda le sue proprietà dietetiche, con particolare riferimento al suo potere assorbente intestinale, questo prodotto è indicato con grande vantaggio in ogni regime speciale destinato al recupero di soggetti reduci da malattie infettive o da gravi disturbi del tratto digerente. Un'altra farina particolare e destinata al consumo umano, studiata e prodotta per la sua utilizzazione in sostituzione in parte del cacao, è quella che va denominata commercialmente con il nome di "Cacao": esso trova largo impiego specifico nelle produzioni dolciarie ed è notevolmente apprezzato per il suo bassissimo contenuto in grassi e per l'assenza totale di teobromina, oltre che per il gusto gradevole e il suo notevole contenuto in zuccheri.

thank Luigi, Riccardo, Marco, Luigi, Francesco, Paolo and Umberto of the most welcome comments, I have lots of photos to these beautiful animals and several videos that I hope to assemble near future to make you admire their secret life, this year I dedicated almost exclusively to a pair of barn owl with hours and hours of footage and 5 months of work by collecting images and video that the difficulties and the elusiveness of the subjects I personally exceptional view, I hope to have the patience to select the scenes to pull down a video.
