at 300mm, 1/4000 f/7.1, ISO 3200, hand held. Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa. Specie: Tragelaphus angasii

We were in out safari vehicle watching a Hippo in the water hole that wasn't doing much when about 100 meters away this Male Nyala came bolting across the open field from out of the bush. This was a great site it as not often seen. The field is about 500 meters across and the Nyala did not slow down. Next minute our ranger yelled out Wild Dogs! Now we knew why the Nyala was in such hurry.

nice shot Brian,
the dogs are the most efficient african predators.and the nyala knows it very well !!
unfortunatly this is the reason why the lions kill them as soon as they can do it and in many places with too many lions the wild dog population remain scarce.sabi sand for sure is not safe for the dogs !!

Hi Stefano,
In a fight between super predators it is difficult for the dogs unless the pack is very big.
However, for the prey of the African Bush the Wild Dogs strike fear unlike no other predator because the Wild Dogs do not stop!
The dogs that frightened the Nyala and then we could see frighten all the other prey, were a small group of 3 dogs.
I will tell the story in the next picture.
Thank you for your experience in the wild of South Africa, I appreciate very much!
Ciao
Brian
