Day 2 Dopo un'abbondante colazione, ci catapultiamo fuori dal rifugio, pronti alla partenza. Ora il vento soffia davvero forte e ad ogni folata mi aggrappo ai bastoncini per non cadere. Dopo l'attraversamento della parte centrale che si trova tra i ghiacciai Eyjafjallajökull e Mýrdallsjökull , ci prepariamo ad affrontare una salita abbastanza ripida, ma relativamente breve. Ora il vento alza la sabbia vulcanica e ci colpisce al volto con molta violenza, furbamente mi sono messo le lenti a contatto ed ora mi sembra di avere la carta vetrata al posto delle palpebre :-D Tra una folata e l'altra faccio qualche scatto veloce, ma la fotocamera viene continuamente riempita di sabbia e preferisco tenerla nello zaino. Il meteo, grazie alle nuvole che viaggiano veloci cambia in continuazione, freddo/caldo/sole/nebbia. Affrontata la salita arriviamo in una vallata che si presenta completamente nera e bruciata, in questa vallata spunta una montagna completamente rossa fatta di terra con componente molto ferrosa, il meteo sta migliorando e il vento si calma. Saliamo sulla montagna rossa e poi scendiamo. Procedendo col cammino mi si presenta una scena epica.... Una vallata attraversata da un fiume che finisce con una cascata che cade in mezzo al ghiaccio, dominata da un vulcano alle sue spalle. Non posso lasciarmi perdere l'occasione, tiro fuori la fotocamera e monto il Teleobiettivo. Da li scopro che non lo smonterò praticamente più dalla fotocamera.... GUARDA LA MIA GALLERIA "ISLANDA" PER LA STORIA COMPLETA.
