Sul tram che da Trieste sale ad Opicina. Il tragitto del Tram di Opicina è lungo poco più di 5 km, con un dislivello di 329 m.s.l.m.. La pendenza massima raggiunta tocca il 26%. Il sistema di trazione fu modificato nel 1928 da "cremagliera" a "funicolare" ed è tutt'oggi funzionante. Il tram, dopo aver percorso la tratta iniziale normalmente, viene agganciato ad alcune motrici che lo spingono (in salita) o lo trattengono (in discesa) seguendo il tratto di funicolare.
