Convolvulaceae Le Convolvulaceae sono una famiglia di piante dicotiledoni che raggruppa circa 60 generi e circa 1700 specie. In Italia sono presenti 6 generi (Cuscuta, Cressa, Dichondra, Calystegia, Convolvulus, Ipomoea). Descrizione : I fiori sono ermafroditi, tetrameri con calice e corolla. Gli stami sono inseriti alla base della corolla. L'ovario è supero. Il frutto è una capsula. Nella flora italiana sono comprese piante erbacee rampicanti, alcune specie esotiche sono legnose. L'impollinazione è entomofila attuata dalle farfalle. Tassonomia : Nella classificazione di Cronquist (1981) la famiglia comprendeva 1650 specie suddivise in circa 55 generi. Secondo la più recente classificazione filogenetica (APG del 1998 e APGII del 2003) le Convolvulaceae comprendono anche alcune altre famiglie (es. Cuscutaceae e Humbertiaceae).
