In questa foto secondo me c'è praticamente tutto quello che uno si immagina quando parte per un viaggio verso il nord: ghiaccio, abeti e l'aurora boreale! L'unica assenza è la neve, che probabilmente avrebbe arricchito anche di più il paesaggio, ma purtroppo era ancora troppo caldo per delle copiose nevicate. L'aurora in questo scatto qui era davvero molto molto flebile, ad occhio nudo in questi casi a malapena si riesce a distinguere da una nuvola; auguro a tutti quelli che in questa stagione si fanno un viaggio per le luci del nord di vedere aurore ben più potenti, perché in caso contrario rimarrete probabilmente delusi e con un'idea distorta di ciò che rappresenta l'aurora. Questa sera qui io ero a Reykjavik che studiavo, una sera come tante, quando per caso do un'occhiata alle previsioni del tempo e dell'aurora e noto che prometteva cieli puliti e tempesta geomagnetica di G(1). Tutto fogato, prenoto un tour al volo in quanto ero senza macchina e all'orario X si parte verso il parco di Thingvellir; con molto dispiacere alla fine della serata non si avvista nulla di minimamente comparabile alle luci scatenate da una tempesta di grado G(1). Comunque, ho molto a cuore questo scatto più che altro per la composizione che in questo caso (con la linea del ghiaccio che porta l'occhio verso il centro) trovo abbastanza azzeccata.
