Thanks for your comments. The method I use is simple. I pre focus the lens manually on a pre selected area close to the sett and use raisins or peanuts as a lure. I position myself down wind of the sett about an hour before dusk. I use a red filtered torch to see the animal in the dark (they ignore red light) and fire the camera with a wireless remote shutter release. I'm using 2 canon flashes on ETTL, Ratio 3:1, Phottix Odin wireless flash triggers. The 580ex 2 is positioned to the right of the camera and angled down at about 45 degrees and a 430 ex 2 is positioned lower down on the left of the camera as a fill flash. You can, of course use manual flash also. The camera is on manual ISO 250, 1/250 sec, F11 (for greater DOF). |
