Without knowing what you have cropped out, it's difficult to say if this is better, or not, than the original. As far as sharpness and noise is concerned, usually the thing that suffers it looks fine and lovely. But, I would say, that personally, I prefer not to have a very bright area that spills out over an entire corner, as the eye then follows that and out of the frame. You can either try and darken it, with a vignette, say, or simply leaving a bit more in of that edge that includes a darker edge. If you look at my misty river yesterday, you can see how a post darkened corner can really pull the picture 'in'. Still, a likeable and attractive image.

I see what you mean about the eye being led out of the frame - thanks! And I hadn't considered adding a vignette. Of course, I realised that you really needed to see the original but I wanted your reaction on this one first. Thank you for obliging! I've posted the original now as well - which I also like :)

I was only wanting the original as you weren't sure if it was an improvement! I will look at it in a mo. Just uploading some teasels from my misty morning.
