Prima, storica nidificazione del fenicottero rosa in Sicilia. È accaduto nella Riserva naturale Saline di Priolo, in provincia di Siracusa, gestita dalla Lipu. Una colonia di 220 esemplari si è insediata la scorsa primavera costruendo 50 nidi e deponendo almeno 41 uova, che hanno iniziato a schiudersi a inizio giugno. E ad oggi sono 36 i pulcini nati il cui involo è previsto per metà agosto.
