Seconda città della Baviera in ordine di grandezza e capoluogo della storica regione della Franconia, Norimberga è soprattutto la città del treno: qui fu inaugurata nel dicembre 1835 la prima linea ferroviaria della Germania che la collegava alla vicina cittadina satellite di Furth; qui ha sede il suggestivo e frequentatissimo Museo delle Ferrovie Tedesche, dedicato alle origini e allo sviluppo del leggendario sistema ferroviario teutonico. Se si ama il modellismo si può benissimo scegliere di iniziare la visita dai padiglioni posti al primo piano della struttura, interamente occupati da migliaia di riproduzioni di ogni tipo di vagoni e locomotive, proposte al pubblico con criteri di fruizione innovativi e interattivi.
