Saturnia pavoniella female sent on March 16, 2012 (17:26) by Pikappa73. 17 comments, 1932 views.

, 1/15 f/16.0, ISO 500, tripod. Specie: Saturnia pavoniella

on the previous photo I posted I stated that the male specimen is raised by the larval stage
if you have the patience to go and read the additional info, not rewrite it here.
sorry if I did not also specified for this female, to be fair, I should, but I assumed that you had already read in the other photo.

In this case, the samples I found them in a meadow hinterland of my city, last spring, when I went to photograph
impossible not to see them ... they are followers of a single plant.

both sfarfallate a few hours on Wednesday.

once it is impupato, I kept it inside a container open, but protected from predators with the very dense mesh, tulle so to speak.

and I left it on the roof to synchronize with flicker free specimens in nature.

I had kept in casa would sfarfallato before, but take over all kinds of variables that I am not to list here.

the male is already flown away.

the female I am allowed to keep a couple of days for him to lay all the eggs fertilized by the male.
so I will have breeding tot. larvae. the eggs are nearly a hundred.
I take this opportunity: If someone wanted eggs (no larvae) or pupae future, please contact me by mp well.

(Not a sales ad disguised, I offer to share the same passion)

but on my site I suggest to those who want to buy, addresses two very good breeders.
from these friends, I ask myself from time to time, I think they are the two most reliable web.

I have already addressed many users, even in this forum, to farmers.

More specific if they are "domestic"or wild ", I do not care to hide certain information, anything, I try to" advertise "these alternative activities, fun and interesting, but are not limited to, at the photo shoot.

Greetings all, and thanks for the appreciation.

Thanks Pikappa, useful your description.
I had found one last year and I did exactly what you describe, too.
When I flew off like a bat flapping its wings to as.

Rather than shooting but I really liked the sound of the wings ... fantastic!

Renew compliemnti for your shot.

A greeting.
