Si pensa che il 60/80% delle cacce di licaone abbia successo, rendendolo uno dei predatori più efficenti in natura. Ma qualcuna è pur sempre solo un tentativo. Qui la caccia è durata meno di 3 minuti, il tempo di rendersi conto che non c'erano esemplari particolarmente malati. Gli altri hanno già abbandonato, mentre i due licaoni più avanzati hanno seguito ancora per qualche metro le zebre, finchè gli stalloni non si sono voltati e hanno fatto muro.
